Nashville vocalist Dara Tucker’s sounds reach fans of modern ballads, soulful grooves and the American Songbook as heard on her CD Soul Said Yes and her debut recording ‘All Right Now.’ For her upcoming Nashville performance on February 14, Tucker and her group will celebrate Valentine’s Day in a special performance at The Garden Brunch Cafe on 924 Jefferson Street from 7:30-8:50 pm.
The new ‘Live At The Garden’ performance series is a monthly event designed by Teree McCormick and The Garden Brunch cafe to match top jazz talent with top cuisine giving patrons a proper look into the diversity that is Nashville as Music City and one of the nation’s fastest growing cosmopolitan destinations.
Dara Tucker, together with Cord Martin on sax, Joe Davidian on piano, Greg Bryant on bass and Chester Thompson on drums, will cover the Coltrane/Hartman album entitled John Coltrane and Johnny Hartman, (Impulse! Records, 1963). This album is considered iconic of the era—a ‘must have’ in the classic jazz library. It’s a recording that renders a deeply moving experience for the listener. Dara will also include selections from her recently released CD, Soul Said Yes that made the Jazzweek Top 100 radio airplay charts for five weeks in 2012. Tickets are $20. Dinner begins at 5 pm and priced separately. For more information, contact SistaRock PR at sistarockpr.com. Dara’s sound has won over audiences at The San Jose Jazz Festival and such rooms as The Blue Note (N.Y.C.), Smoke (N.Y.C.), San Jose Jazz Festival, Boston’s Scullers’ Jazz Club, New Orleans’ famed Snug Harbor Jazz Club, The Falcon (Marlboro, N.Y.),) Pete Millers (Chicago) and The Oklahoma Jazz Hall of Fame. She has had the privilege to perform or record with such musicians as seven-string and eight-string guitarist Charlie Hunter, trumpeter Duane Eubanks, drummers Jason Marsalis, Derico Watson, Derrek Phillips and pianists Aaron Goldberg and Helen Sung among others.
“Vocalist Dara Tucker has a rich, emphatic voice that is instantly recognizable and memorable,” said music journalist Ron Wynn. “She is also a technical marvel, gifted with great range, fabulous delivery, and the ability to project and tell stories in such a manner she can make the most venerable numbers sound fresh and invigorating.”
The Garden Brunch Cafe offers a full dinner and specialty drink menu and wine list. The restaurant is located in the heart of Nashville’s hip NorthSide/Capital District, on historic Jefferson Street, at 924 Jefferson St., Nashville, Tenn. 37208.
