Friends, family and members will gather on August 11th to celebrate Women’s Day at St. Matthew AME Church. With a theme, “The Strength of a Godly Woman,” two diverse presentations will be given by two dynamic speakers.
Roxie Venzen and Elaine Woods, co-chairs for this occasion have prepared a special celebration for all who will attend. At the 11:00 a.m. worship service Dr. Glenda B. Glover, president of Tennessee State University will be the featured speaker.
Guests are invited back to the church for a 3:30 p.m. worship service. Dr. Shirley Brown first lady of Greater St. John Missionary Baptist Church will be the featured speaker.
Accompanying her on the program will be the spectacular Female Voices of Greater St. John.
“We look forward to your active participation during our celebration because you are sure to receive a blessing,” said women’s day co-chairs. Both guest speakers are noted for their outreach throughout the Nashville community and the surrounding area. Dr. Glover and Dr. Brown also have shown “a commitment to excellence and faith and serve as role models to other women of all ages.”
Although this will be a Women’s Day celebration, this day will also “be filled with song and praise as St. Matthew AME Church continues its own celebration of 113 years of ministry in the Nashville area,” said Rev. Reginald H. Brock, pastor of St. Matthew.”
