SystaStyle Productions opens with an original play, Six Triple Eight, by Nashville playwright Mary McCallum on Fri., Feb. 21 at the Darkhorse Theatre at 4610 Charlotte Ave.
Set during World War II as the first African American female battalion arrives in Europe, this fictional historical play follows members of the 6888 Central Postal Battalion.
Among the troops are Sammy, a young woman seeking adventure and romance; Cleopatra, a famous actress; Paige, a single mother trying to create a better life for her son; and Sadie, a woman with the ‘second-sight,’ who can see the future of others but keeps secrets of her own. Under the direction of Major Clarissa Dixon, they are faced with a seemingly impossible task—to distribute seven million pieces of undelivered mail to soldiers in three months.
Tickets are $10. Six Triple Eight show dates include: Friday, Feb. 21, 7:30 pm; Saturday, Feb. 22, 7:30 pm; Sunday, Feb. 23, 4 pm; Thursday, Feb. 27, 7:30 pm; Friday, Feb. 28, 7:30 pm; Saturday, March 1, 7:30 pm.
