The Sunday morning worship service at First Street Missionary Baptist Church, 1206 Montgomery Ave. allowed the Women’s Ministry to host a Women’s History Month Celebration on March 23.
The morning worship service began high in the spirit. Aside from the inspiring praise and worship from the First Street Sanctuary Choir, an inviting welcome from Antoinette Neal and a dramatic poetic reading from a young leader, Elizabeth Kimbrough—the highlight of the morning came from special invited guest speaker, Rev. Dr. Edith Winters Kimbrough. Her message, ‘God Honors Women,’ made every woman in the building glad to be a woman.
Following Rev. Kimbrough’s message, she made recognitions of a few (49 women) of her invited guests.
Each of the guests was presented a special certificate.
Kimbrough gave a quick scenario of how she came to know each of these women who were invited as “their name just came to my spirit,” according to Dr. Kimbrough.
It was very special that out of nearly 50 women, less than five were not present. She recognized the fact that she called each guest only once and did not call back to remind them of the day.
“It is very special that they would attend without even being reminded,” Kimbrough said.
