Music, grilled hot dogs, chips, drink, popsicles, free clothing and health screenings are set for Saturday, June 7, when two ministries of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church will host a June Community Health Fair at Andrew Jackson Community Center, 941 16th Ave. From 11 am-2 pm, residents and the community will enjoy food, fun and fellowship.
The Health Welfare and Prevention Ministry of Clark Memorial focuses on the promotion of health, healthy behavior and healthy living in the community.
The event will offer free health screenings for blood pressure, glucose, BMI HIV/AIDS along with health education on prostate cancer and dental health.
Meharry Medical College will provide the screening services.
Community Ministries of Clark Memorial will also be on location with their quarterly free clothing give away.
Clark Memorial is located at 1014 14th Ave. N., and is under the leadership of Rev. Dr. Kennard Murray.

Book signing for Barbara Woods Washington at Clark Memorial UMC

Community Ministries at Clark Memorial UMC will host a book signing for Nashville PRIDE columnist, Barbara Woods-Washington on Sunday at 2 pm.
The book entitled, Faith of a Mustard Seed Thoughts on the Use of Faith in the Gospels will be available for reference, purchase and autographs.
Washington received a Bachelor of Science degree from Tennessee State University and the Master of Divinity from Gammon Theological Seminary of the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Ga. She is an ordained Deacon and Elder in the North Georgia Conference of the United Methodist Church and former pastor of Gordon Road UMC, Atlanta, Ga. and Bethel UMC, Brooklyn, N.Y.
“There is a lot more to learn about ‘Rev. Barbara’ as her bio and her persona let’s us know she is creative, knowledgeable and a gentle spirit,” according to close friends.
Guests will enjoy light snacks and an opportunity to meet with the author following an introduction of the author’s intent and a reading of excerpts from the book. The reception will be held in the fellowship hall of Clark Memorial United Methodist Church, 1014 14th Ave. N.
