The ninth annual Nashville edition of Kinfolks Foundation’s Soul Food Festival highlights the aroma of traditional soul food like oxtails, ribs, macaroni and cheese cooking in the air while bringing together families and friends in an outdoor social setting for a day of reunion, information and live national award winning entertainment.
Headliners ‘The Whispers’ will be joined by Stephanie Mills, Chante Moore, 112, and ‘Mint Condition.’ The gates open at 3 pm and show time is at 5 pm for the all-star line up on Saturday, July 19, in their new location, the Tennessee State Fairgrounds at 500 Wedgewood Avenue. Last year’s show was at downtown Nashville’s Riverfront Park.
The music, food and information is sure to evoke a spirit of love, unity and harmony that will resonate within the souls of all those who attend, and provide a wholesome, recreational and cultural experience while motivating the mind, body and soul.
The festival is presented by 92Q (WQQK) and the Kinfolks Foundation, Inc., a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization whose objective is to create platforms for life changing knowledge as it relates to health and wellness, education, housing, financing, business and workforce development.
“In 2010, the Kinfolks Foundation awarded four students with four-year scholarships to attend college and assisted 22 underprivileged youth in attaining their GED, “said foundation President Pat Williams. “When you support the Soul Food Festival through donations or attendance, you help shape our communities.”
Proceeds from the Soul Food Festival benefit learning environments focused on underprivileged youth and young adults, providing a positive and safe environment where these young people can come and get the additional tutoring and career education they need in order to stay competitive in today’s society.
General admission tickets are $35, and preferred seating is available for $45; VIP seating is $65, each only $5 more than last year. You’re encouraged to bring your own lawn chairs. For VIP or to charge by phone, call 1-888-695-0888.
