It’s amazing what a little color can do! That’s what Sherwin-Williams employee Casey Woodward believes.
He and 35 other dedicated Sherwin-Williams employees donated their time and product to the Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee on May 14.
The Boys and Girls Club of Middle Tennessee, a local organization with the goal of enabling all young people (especially those in need) to become productive caring and responsible adults received a refresh from the employees. They painted interior and exterior projects for the community youth center including the gym, handrails and restriping the parking lot.
“We just want to spruce up the facility, and make it a nice and clean environment for the children. That’s what it’s really all about all about, the aesthetics,” said Woodward the Sherwin-Williams employee who coordinated the project.
He said that sometimes adding color could change people’s mindset.
“Everyone’s excited—from the employees to the kids.”
Sherwin-Williams provided 40 gallons of paint for this project. They used high performance coating for t he rails and outside doors that typically face a lot of wear and tear from the children daily.
The project was all a part of National Painting Week. National Painting Week, which takes place from May 11-16, offers color inspiration, painting ideas, expert tips, product information and one-of-a-kind DIY and designer projects to help inspire people to update their spaces with paint. As part of National Painting Week, thousands of Sherwin-Williams employees will join forces with painting contractors to volunteer their time and paint hundreds of community organizations across the U.S. and Canada.
“Thousands of employees in 250 communities around the nation are participating in the week,” said Woodward. It’s something the company does each year and will continue to do.
In Middle Tennessee there are 28 Sherwin-Williams stores and 17 sales representatives. On Thursday there were 38 volunteers in attendance including one representatives from each store. For more information, visit: swpaintingweek.com.
