The board of directors at Matthew Walker Compre-hensive Health Center recently announced that long time healthcare professional, Katina Beard, has been named as the new Chief Executive Officer for the center.
The center embarks upon new leadership, vision and direction with Katina Beard. Beard has served at the center as the Interim Chief Executive Officer since July 2014 and in various roles since 1996. Prior to the interim role she served as the director of Institutional Advancement and Community Initiatives. She brings more than two decades of experience in the healthcare industry. She began her healthcare profession as an intern with the Veterans Administration, Ambulatory Care Department.
As the center’s new CEO, Beard will direct all day-to-day activities for the center including oversight of each location in Clarksville, Smyrna and at the main facility in Nashville.
Beard earned her Bachelor of Science in Health Care Administration and Planning. She also completed her Master of Science in Public Health from Meharry Medical College. She currently serves on the board of the American Cancer Society and the Tennessee Primary Care Association.
“The board of directors worked very hard to select the right person for this very important role at the center,” said Cornell Randle, who serves as chairman of the board. “We believe Mrs. Beard will continue the hard work, dedication and focus of assuring quality healthcare services that the community has experienced over the years and during her tenure as interim CEO.”
Beard will continue to report to and work closely with the board of directors on effective strategies for Matthew Walker Comp-rehensive Health Center as it seeks to improve and enhance quality care delivery to the communities it serves.
“We believe she brings strong leadership and innovation to this role,” said Randle. “The board looks forward to continuing this journey with Mrs. Beard as she embraces the center’s long term objectives toward fulfilling its distinct, unique and sacred mission.”
Matthew Walker Comp-rehensive Health Center has been providing quality healthcare since 1968 to Middle Tennessee and the surrounding region.
The center is a federally qualified health center whose mission is to provide quality healthcare, health education and to promote wellness. The center’s fateful legacy has grown tremendously since its inception, touching thousands of lives and employing nearly 100 individuals.
“I am honored to be selected to serve as the new CEO for the center,” said Beard. “It is humbling to continue this journey to provide quality healthcare service to Middle Tennesseans who entrust their lives to the center each day. I have been serving the center in various capacities for nearly 20 years and look forward to an even greater future for the center.”
Beard will officially take office on June 1. The community is welcomed to meet the new CEO and visit the health center at an open house on June 18, from 6–8 pm.
