The 2014 national champion Vanderbilt Commodores have put themselves in a great position in their quest to make it two in a row. Vandy stands 2-0 in the College World Series after two thrilling victories. Vanderbilt defeated Cal State-Fullerton in the opener 4-3, in a game suspended Sunday night due to thunderstorms. Jeren Kendall hit a walk-off two-run home run on Monday afternoon for the victory. On Tuesday night, Vandy defeated #7 TCU 1-0 on a Zander Wiel leadoff home run in the 7th.
Vanderbilt next plays Friday night against the winner of Thursday night’s LSU/TCU game, at 7 pm on ESPN. Vandy needs only one more win to return to the CWS Finals next Monday, while LSU or TCU need three, two over Vanderbilt. Virginia stands 2-0 in the other bracket. If an extra game is necessary, it will be played on Saturday, TBD.
