“We are G.R.O.W.I.N.G. at the Grove,” is the motto of the Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church, 1415 Horton Avenue.
Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church will host the 19th annual Community Praise Outreach Picnic affectionately known as ‘Praise In the Big Field’ on Saturday, October 24, from noon-4 pm at Edgehill Community Park.
“The event meets one of our core values, ‘outreach,’ where we intentionally share the love of Christ in our community, city and culture,” said Rev. John R. Faison, Jr., pastor. “Watson Grove serves as fertile ground for the growth of God’s people in South Nashville and beyond.”
Watson Grove Missionary Baptist Church is said to be “a Christ-centered, Bible-based, Spirit-led body of believers that serves as fertile ground for the growth of God’s people in South Nashville and beyond.
“We facilitate this process by engaging in the Biblical functions of the Lord’s Church: pure fellowship, purposeful ministry, powerful evangelism and missions, passionate worship, and persistent discipleship. In this environment, God develops kingdom citizens who impact the community, the culture, and the world for His glory,” stated Rev. Faison.
Praise in the Big Field invites the Edgehill community to praise and worship with Watson Grove, while enjoying free food, kids activities, local vendor booths, community resources and a clothing drive. This year’s event will also feature stage performances by local gospel artists Everett W. Miller, Keesha Rainey, Chantea Kirkwood, Watson Grove MB Church Choir, lyricist William Jones, the House of Prayer of Holiness Church Choir, Steadfast Puppet Ministry, Youth Move K.H.R.O.M.E., King Antonio, Youth for Christ and more.
Toylisa Mitchell and gospel comedian Chris Bond from 760AM radio station will serve as masters of ceremonies.
The public is also encouraged to attend a new series of Saturday Night Live services for its growing congregation led by Rev. Faison. This series will be held every Saturday at The Grove from 6 pm-7:15 pm.
