After the success of the Small Business Administration (SBA) inaugural 2015 InnovateHER Business Challenge the Office of Women’s Business Ownership announced the launch of the SBA’s InnovateHER 2016: Innovating for Women Business Challenge and Summit the InnovateHER Challenge.
Ironically not everyone watches television or has heard of the popular television show and millionaire launch program titled Shark Tank. Shark Tank showcases aspiring entrepreneur-contestants with a variety of ideas and businesses; making business presentations to a panel of “shark” investors. Each Shark has already proven his/her success and operates from a millionaire or billionaire platform in “real life.” InnovateHER is a more realistic and readily reachable challenge for women and the men who dare to throw their hat in the proverbial ring.
This is a national prize competition aimed at unearthing products and services that impact and empower the lives of women and families through local business competitions that culminate in a live pitch Final Round. During the InnovateHER finals, up to 10 Finalists will compete for the Top Three cash prizes totaling $70,000 provided by Microsoft. This year, the national InnovateHER Finals will be held on March 16 and 17, 2016 in the Washington, D.C. metro area as part of a larger Women’s Summit.
The opportunity to actual win up to $70,000 in cash and prizes was presented to a captivated audience at the recent Mid-Tennessee Roundtable Networking Mixer in downtown Nashville. Event organizers; Tunisia Johnson-Scott, Dr. Ruben Cockrell and Donzaleigh Powell facilitated the presentation along with Jacqueline Y. Woodard, MBA . Jacqueline Y. Woodard is the Chief Executive Officer of “All in the Family Comprehensive Enrichment Center” and one of 3 Tennessee area representatives for the 2016 InnovateHER Challenge.
