The year 2016 has already been interesting, with days of teaching and uniqueness overall. Judge Gay Polk–Payton is the author of the 150 page This Has Been a Public Service Announcement. The title and author are even more diverse and intriguing. Affectionately known to many as ‘@JudgeCutie,’ her honor sings and holds a commanding presence for her work in the legal arena, community activism, and is a dotting single mom and role model.

Mississippi born and raised Polk-Payton is a Forest County Justice Court-elected judge. Owner of Polk–Payton Law Offices, Polk-Patton is licensed to practice law in all Mississippi state courts (5th Court of Appeals) and in the United States Supreme Court as well. She wears her brand well, as the statuesque beauty shares physical health maintenance as a certified fitness instructor.

In 1996 Judge Polk-Payton completed a Bachelors degree in business administration at the University of Southern Mississippi. This was followed by a Masters degree in business administration (University of New Orleans); a Masters degree in business administration; and a Juris Doctorate at the University of Mississippi (Ole Miss) School of Law. Among her numerous esteemed achievements, Polk-Payton is a respected member of the Mississippi, Magnolia and Central Mississippi Bar Associations. She is president of the South Central Mississippi Bar Association, the Trial Lawyers Association, and the Hattiesburg Alumnae Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority.

As for her thunderous, well trained voice, she really can vocalize on cue and not miss a beat. Payton-Polk has performed the national anthem at an NFL game, various memorials, walks, charity concerts, memorials, and sporting events. She has also honored her mother’s annual Heart Foundation.

Writing is another way she honors and continuously thanks God. Writing genres include but are not limited to songwriting, book authoring, and yes, a myriad of professional and legal briefs. Onlookers can observe her giving back as a role model and voice of the community at large in other capacities. She also earned a nomination for the Power to Exhale 2015 ‘Power Up Woman of the Year Award.’ She recently became the Power DIVA for the Pine Belt Mississippi Chapter of the Power to Exhale organization. Judge Payton-Polk leads by example.

She is a busy single mom and is one who has been a vital part of planting seeds of greatness in her son Kobe Payton. He is a senior at Oak Grove High School where he serves as student body president. He is president of the junior auxiliary of Kappa Alpha Psi, Kappa League, and plays left tackle for the Oak Grove Warriors football team. He was elected by his peers as ‘senior homecoming escort’ and was chosen as ‘senior beau.’ Kobe is a third year cancer survivor who loves giving back to the Make a Wish Foundation and the American Cancer Society. He served on the welcome ministry at West Point Church. He plans to attend the University of Mississippi in the fall of 2016 and major in marketing and continue on to law school.

Judge Payton-Polk also hosts a radio show entitled Gay’s PSA’s. If the aforementioned obligations and work don’t keep her hands full, precious time is spent with the two ‘loves of her life: son Kobe Payton, and partner Gregory Anthony White, Sr.
