Those in dire need of food and unable to purchase it are asked to come to Manna From Heaven Dinner House (MFHDH), 3510 West Hamilton Avenue for Operation Feed Nashville on Saturday, March 5, to receive help in feeding your family.
At 10:30 am, the Pastor’s Forum and One Gen Away will be at the MFHDH to provide food for more than 400 families with enough food to last for two weeks. They will give away over 25,000 pounds.
Those in need are simply asked to bring a required photo ID. There will be only one unit per household. The food units will include rice, beans, and a variety of vegetables and fruit, crackers, breakfast, lunch and dinner items.
Operation Feed Nashville is the product of a partnership between One Gen Away and the Pastor’s Forum, two groups that have come together for a common cause: to feed Nashville.
One Gen Away was founded by Rev. Chris Whitney of Family Christian Church in Franklin, Tenn. The Pastor’s Forum is an organization consisting of Lord’s House Ministry, Rev. Sam Kirk; Greater Love Kingdom Builders, Rev. Anthony Waggoner; New Canaan Church with Rev. Harvey L. Butler, Jr.; and New Livingstone Church, with Rev. Ronnie T. Mitchell. The forum is said to be “a movement dedicated to erasing racial, social and economic barriers.”
“The tough reality is that people in our community are still struggling to put enough food on the table. This giveaway is designed to feed those in need, particularly children who, without school, do not eat during the day,” said organizers.
This giveaway has been in the planning stages for several weeks. Not only are organizers hoping to feed people with food, but also they hope to bring people and churches together, regardless of race and class, to do God’s will.
“I am grateful for the opportunity to engage in this ecumenical exercise that follows the social agenda of Jesus himself. Find a way to collaborate and help those that are in need,” said Rev. Ronnie T. Mitchell, senior pastor of New Livingstone Church.
