Jonathan David Buck, known as Jon B, is a singer, songwriter and record producer. Prior to his rise to fame, he wrote songs for After 7, Toni Braxton, Michael Jackson, Color Me Badd and others. His popularity began in the 90’s. He released his debut studio album in 1995 entitled Bonafide. The album spawned the popular hit and Grammy-nominated single “Someone to Love”, which featured Grammy award winner Babyface. The album was a commercial success as it went platinum, selling over 1 million copies.
Following his very successful introduction, Jon’s fame began to increase. He released his second album Cool Relax in 1997. This album spawned the top 10 single “They Don’t Know” and two other top 20 hits, one featuring Tupac Shakur. Cool Relax received generally positive reviews from music critics and it is his most successful album commercially, it has been certified as Double Platinum by the RIAA.
While on tour promoting Cool Relax, he formed a group with two of his back-up singers named Jack Herrera. A full album, titled Retro Futuristo, was put together, but never officially released. However, two tracks from the project did see release; “Free to Believe”, which appeared on the soundtrack to the film Light It Up, and “High Off You” which appeared on Red Star Sounds, Vol. 1: Soul Searching.
Melanie Comarcho is an actress whose had a successful Hollywood career thus far. Comarcho has worked on a variety of projects during her early entertainment career, including “The Jamie Foxx Show” and “The 33rd Annual NAACP Image Awards”. Later, Comarcho acted in the dramatic comedy “Hair Show” with Mo’Nique, “Martin Lawrence Presents: 1st Amendment Standup” and “First Sunday.” More recently, Comarcho appeared in “Melanie Comarcho: Hello!” on Showtime.
These days, both Jon B and Melanie Comarcho are touring and having fun in their perspective career paths. They’ll both be appearing together in Music City this coming Sunday night for the Love and Laugh Tour. This event will be held at The City Winery downtown. There will be two shows.
