St. Vincent School Reunion plans finalized

This Labor Day weekend, September 2-4, all are invited to come celebrate an historic Nashville educational institution. The Reunion is for all students of St. Vincent de Paul School and the friends they grew up with during their days at St. Vincent and in high school. It is being hosted by The Planning Team, a select group of alumni from the SVdP Classes of 1963-67. I graduated from the school (it ran from the 1st through the 8th grade) in 1966.

On Friday, September 2, Registration runs from Noon – 5:00 pm at the Reunion Headquarters Hotel, the Vanderbilt Marriott. The “New” Nashville Tour, a three-hour tour showcasing old locations and the “new” sights, will be that day. A Welcome Meet & Greet will be held from 6:00 – 10:00 pm at The Ivy Center of Nashville on Ashland City Highway. Entertainment will be provided by SVdP alumnus Darrell Rose, African Drums and Percussion.

On Saturday, September 3, a Cookout in the Park runs from 11:00 am – 2:00 pm at the Pavilion in Centennial Park, with food, competitions & entertainment. The centrerpiece Gala Event runs from 6:00 pm – Midnight at Marriott Vanderbilt Hotel: Reception at 6:00 pm, Dinner at 7:00 pm; Program & Entertainment at 8:00 pm; Afterglow from 10:00 pm Until. Entertainment by Jazz Musician Richard Priester and Author/Poet Jacquelyn Smithson Howard.

Sunday, September 4 begins with Worship & Memorial Service at St. Vincent de Paul Church on Heiman Street at 11 am. The Service at St. Vincent Church will feature a Liturgical Dance by Mary King Linares. The Memorial Service Leaders are Rev. Dr. Arrold Martin and Joseph King. It will be followed by a Tour of the School at 12:30 PM and Brunch from 1:00 – 2:30 PM in the School Gymnasium, with entertainment by Author/Poet Jacquelyn Smithson Howard.

Registration and/or ticket purchase is required to attend events except the Worship & Memorial Service on Sunday. Tickets to select events are on an a-la-cart basis. Reunion Registration at $150 includes Gala, Hospitality Suite, Souvenir Tee Shirt, Memory Book and Contribution to Service Organization; Spouse Registration is $75 and includes Gala and Hospitality Suite. Tour of New Nashville on Friday is $20; Welcome Meet & Greet is $25; Cookout in the Park is $30; Gala Ticket is $50; Brunch is $20.
