The Winners Circle is a community advocacy and entrepreneurial development group of African American men in Nashville. They formed recently to help each other and others to navigate the business climate of the Middle Tennessee area. Thursday, September 22 is the date for their next event, and you are invited to attend. Another event is in the planning stages for October, as well.
The founder, Joshua Mundy believes that “collaboration is one of the keys to success and if we can shorten the learning curve for each other, we can all WIN!”
With this in mind the group has set out to identify areas of focus that need to be addressed and dealt with in order to succeed in business locally.
“The Winners Circle began after many years of solo business projects, attempts to seek out mentorship and exploring existing ‘entrepreneurial’ programs designed to help small business owners,” says Mundy. “In recent months, open discussions around the need for access to resources and skills on how to do business the right way began to occur on a regular basis. As a result, their was eye opening discovery of gaps in the community to address small, local business, start up and support to established businesses.”
In August, they presented a four-part progam series entitled “The Winning Hour” designed to discuss topics in business in a relaxed environment.
The series began on August 4th, with the topic “Turn Your Dreams into Reality!” held at Music City Auto Spa. Subsequent meetings were held at the Goodwill Industries Career Center at 937 Herman Street in Nashville, as follows: August 11th – Working Capital & Building Business Credit ; August 17th – Business Growth / Acquistion with guest speaker Marcus Whitney; and August 25th – All things Legal, with presenter Andrea Perry, attended by this author. Ms. Perry gave a fascinating and informative talk focused on these topics: why you need a lawyer, business structure, contracts, and estate planning.
“To address the gap in the community, The Winners Circle was developed as a collective of business owners whose sole purpose is: ‘To Bring Entrepreneurs together to Educate, Collaborate and Scale to Win!'” says Mundy.
On September 22nd at 6:00 pm, there will be a discussion on Marketing vs PR & Social Media Strategies. The event will be held at 624C Jefferson Street; Nashville, TN 37208. The building is where Mundy’s business, the Music City Cleaners, is also located. See you there!
Highlights of the Thursday evening session are as follows: 1.) Marketing vs PR do you know the difference? 2.) Traditional and Guerilla Marketing; and 3.) Social Media Marketing Strategies. Speakers for the event are: Eric Holt- LoveNoise Lifestyle Brand; Moncherie Holmes Jones-Mojo Marketing & PR; and Jason Luntz-UrVoice Media.
