The Community Academy of Music and Arts of Tennessee State University is now recruiting and accepting new members for their Boys Choir. They would like to especially invite any interested male youth who would like to come and sing with them. This is an excellent opportunity to find out if CAMA is a fit. Parents of young men ages 9 through 18 are encouraged to call director Roderick Bronaugh on campus at 615-963-5356 anytime and leave your name and a number to call back. You may email Mr. Bronaugh at email@example.com
“We are celebrating 11 years of existence and performing with the TSU University Choir on Nov. 13 on the main campus at the PAC Bldg. at 7:00 p.m.,” says director Roderick Bronaugh. Bronaugh is a full-time instructor in the Music Department of TSU. He was the lead singer of the R&B group Blue Magic for over a decade, from 1990 through 2004, after which he turned to a career as a full-time educator. He is an authority on boys choirs, having done his masters thesis on how to implement and develop a boys choir.
CAMA Boys Choir performances have been well-received throughout the area. The choir is modeled after the iconic Harlem Boys Choir and is poised to grow into an internationally recognizable unit. Graduates of the choir have successfully matriculated into many universities, and many have gone on into successful careers in the music industry. Among the dozens of men who have participated in the choir, one example of the graduates is Miles Slay, who is a well-known vocal recording artist who attended TSU.
Interested youth will be expected to attend rehearsals at TSU on Saturdays at noon for a couple of hours.
All are cordially invited to attend the program on Sunday, November 13 as the TSU Music Department presents “A Choral Extravaganza” featuring the University Choir, the Meistersingers, and other performances from throughout the TSU Vocal / Choral area. The program will be held at 7:00 p.m. in the Eddie T. Goins Recital Hall of the Performing Arts Center on the main campus of Tennessee State University.
And mark your calendars now for the CAMA Holiday Celebration, featuring the CAMA Boys Choir, the Cremona Strings Ensemble Too, and the Ridley’s School of Dance. The program begins at 6:00 p.m. on Saturday, December 17, 2016 in the Lewis Cox Theater of the Performing Arts Center on the main campus of Tennessee State University.
All past CAMA Boys Choir members are invited to attend these events and are especially encouraged to help find new members for the choir as members age out and leave for other endeavors.
