‘Tis the season,’ so many organizations are making a joyful celebration of the Christmas season by finding numerous means to celebrate the holidays. Three motorcycle groups joined together in holding a toy drive for children in the Nashville community on December 10.
The Unknown Riders, Derby Boys and Flying Panthers gathered at Cedar Grover Missionary Baptist Church with toys of all kinds. Members of each of the groups purchased all the toys provided.
The toys given away ranged from dolls, remote-controlled cars, teacup sets, games, guitars and other instruments, etc.
“It was a great turnout and very exciting for a first time to see the faces of the children,” said Unknown Rider Ezell Burns. “I personally made sure that ample batteries were included with the battery operated toys so that a kid would have at least two rounds of enjoyment.”
Money was also collected for the purchase of ‘raffled toys,’ such as a basketball goal, scooters and bicycles.
This was a great day for everyone, including: kids, parents and the motorcycle clubs. Other festivities that made the day joyful included the food (hot dogs, chips, drinks, coffee and chocolate) and Christmas music.
At the end of the drive, so many toys were available that the children were given additional toys!
Some of the riders acting as hosts look forward to attending and supporting the Naptown Riders on Thursday, December 22, as they host another toy drive at the World Famous Jazzy Sensations, 1520 Hampton Street from 3-7 pm.
