Country Radio Seminar 2017 came to a close Friday night, Feb. 24, 2017. The three-day seminar, held exclusively for the country radio industry, took place Wednesday, Feb. 22 through Friday, Feb. 24, 2017 at the Omni Nashville Hotel. The agenda was filled with all-star lineups of entertainment performances from up-and-comers to the Country giant powerhouses of today as well as intriguing and informative discussions, panels, and mentoring breakfasts. This year’s event was even better than the last, hosting prominent and inspiring featured speakers and talented mentors and discussion leaders. CRS 2018 has already been set, returning to the Omni Nashville Monday through Wednesday, Feb. 5-7, 2018.

My favorite part of CRS is meeting interesting folks from around the globe who are in the music biz. I met a brother who is doing country radio in Muscle Shoals, Alabama. I especially like to checkin with the few African American artists who are trying to break into the Country side of the industry, and i usually run across them at CRS and in June at the CMA Music Fest.

Simba Jordan is an amazingly talented writer and singer from central Ohio who was raised on country music and has been performing for years around the region since 2010. We first met several years ago at CMA Fest, and it was fun catching up with him last week. He is still seeking a record deal, and has been sought out to perform at some gigs around the country. Listen to his songs, performances of Countrty Thang (3:52); Goodbye Eyes (4:20); and O’ Holy Night; watch videos of him in action; and find out more about this cool country cat at his official website: http://simbajordan.com/

Everyone’s a winner at CRS, and i even won a Gretch mandolin in a raffle at the Fresh On The Row showcase held Wednesday afternoon at The Listening Room Cafe on Seconsd Avenue! Check me out with host Charlie Monk, Taylor Hope, Denny Strickland, and Presley & Taylor. When they say Prizes, they mean prizes!

Next week, Kalimba was supposed to return to Third and Lindsley but they have postponed the gig to June… I will let you know when they get the new date.

But do go to Third and Lindsley next week anyway and let’s welcome Angaleena Presley to the stage. Known as “Holler Annie” when she performs with the supergroup Pistol Annies with Miranda Lambert and Ashley Monroe, this Wonder Woman plays at 7:00 pm on Wednesday, March 8 with Amy Ray. 3rd and Lindsley is located at 816 3rd Avenue South in downtown Nashville.
