Friends and family joined members of Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in celebration of their pastor’s 36th anniversary on March 19 at the morning worship service. Rev. Elton Lee Waller was celebrated for his 36 years as Shiloh’s leader.
The members chose the theme ‘It’s Your time,’ which was supported by Ecclesiastes 3:1-8. Rev. Waller has been a part of many members’ growth, physically, spiritually and mentally for 36 years.
“My prayer is that over the past 36 years, lives have been changed, souls have been saved and God is pleased with our service,” said Waller. “To God be the glory for the years He has allowed me to serve as under-shepherd of His people!”
The morning worship and celebration service was led by Min. Frederick Leonard, who reminded the assembly that the Shiloh Choir made it easy for him to celebrate.
“On February 15, 1981 (one day after Valentine’s Day), Waller was installed as pastor of Shiloh,” Leonard said. “What a sweetheart of a deal!”
The choir ushered a high celebratory spirit into the service from the onset with selections that spoke of ‘God’s timing.’ It was evident that the longtime members of Shiloh held a deep appreciation for their beloved pastor of 36 years. The feeling in the sanctuary was expressed through songs from the choir and dance from the Shiloh Praise Dancers as the energy was focused on Rev. Waller being a Godly servant. The prayers delivered at altar call by Min. Ladonya Moore exuded the same type of energy, with some giving witness to the power of prayer.
Elder Nathaniel Anderson was the guest speaker for the morning worship service. Elder Anderson received Christ at the age of five years old. He later accepted his call to the ministry at the age of 17 to preach and teach the Word of God.
