As with any church grounded in the community, the Second Missionary Baptist Church (SMBC) located in the South Side is ‘springing forward’ in service to others. The group’s ‘media team’ and Executive Director LaNese Campbell of the nonprofit ministry met with their ‘shepherd of the house,’ Bishop Calvin C. Barlow, Jr. (and Lady Rutha L. Barlow) with favorable results.
In the meeting addressing reaching the masses through social media, Bishop Barlow sanctioned a new branding and marketing method.
All things SMBC will now be seen as #SMBC across the board—both online and in all print publications or in other awareness campaigns.
The new ‘spring forward’ schedule begins on April 8 when #SMBC will be awarded a financial grant at the SRDA Triple Crown Luncheon. It is a Faith Based Equity Health Award and takes place at Lee Chapel AME Church at 11:30 am.
April 15 at noon marks the time and date for the #SMBC Women’s Ministry Sisterhood Fellowship.
April 28-29 marks this year’s #SMBC Senior’s Retreat. The theme is ‘Workers of Christ: Ephesians 2:10’ set to take place at Henry Horton State Park, Chapel Hill, Tenn.
April 30 marks the #SMBC Wellness Ministry Fair, which will be held at the church.
May 20 rounds it off with the #SMBC Educational Scholarship Banquet.
Attire is semi-formal, and the event begins promptly at 7 pm, CDT, at the Radisson Airport Hotel, in Nashville.
Second Missionary Baptist Church is located off 10th Avenue South at 1000, Halcyon St., Nashville, Tenn.
