TSU Legends Weekend/Alumni Coming Home Weekend runs April 7 – 9

This weekend is a big one for the TSU family. It marks their annual spring homecoming and games with activities for past and present football players, fellow alumni, students, staff, and friends of the historic university. The campus will be buzzing as the Alvin Cat Coleman Symposium, Big Blue 5K Run/Walk and Legend’s Game take place this weekend for Alumni Relations’ “Coming Home Weekend”. The Legend’s Game, which will feature former Tigers, is scheduled for a 1 pm start with the Spring Game following at 3 pm on Saturday.

The Tennessee State University Football Alumni Chapter is excited about hosting the 8th Annual Alvin “Cat” Coleman Legends Weekend in conjunction with the 5th annual Alumni Coming Home Weekend scheduled for April 7 – 9, 2017. Be a part of this festive weekend. Players from 1950 – 2013 will participate in a game of flag football proceeding the Blue and White scrimmage to show that ole Tiger spirit. A roster of twenty former players will make up the Legends teams.

April 7, at 1:00 pm, the Alvin “Cat” Coleman Symposium takes place in the Harold M. Love Learning Resource Center (LRC) Room 119-H. That night from 7:00 – 10:00 pm, an Alumni Cocktail Mixer will take place at The 9 Bar/Lounge, 1141 Bell Road, Antioch (w/free valet parking) sponsored by the TSU Office of Alumin Relations & Annual Giving.

April 8, at 8:00 am, the 5K Run / Walk will be sponsored by the TSU National Alumni Association. At 1:00 pm, the Legends Game kicks off in Hale Stadium, affectionately known as “The Hole” prior to the 3:00 pm Blue & White
Scrimmage. Admission is free to both football games.

Tennessee State University athletics will hold a rummage sale on April 8 at Hale Stadium in conjunction with annual Blue and White Spring football game. During the event, Big Blue supporters will have the opportunity to purchase authentic TSU athletics paraphernalia at a low price. The sale will begin at 1:30 pm in the North End Zone and will continue through halftime of the Blue & White game.

Alumni Coming Home Weekend Activities will begin April 7, at 9:15 am (Shotgun start) with a Golf Tournament at Hermitage Golf Club, 3939 Old Hickory Blvd., sponsored by Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha; contact: Horace Jones – hthjones@yahoo.com

At 3:00 pm, an Invitation Only Scholarship Appreciation Reception will be hosted by the TSU Foundation in Kean Hall Gymnasium. At 5:30 pm, the Engineering Alumni Association will host its 2017 Spring Meeting & Social in the Research & Sponsored Programs Bldg., Room 209

At 2:00 pm, the Ground Breaking Ceremony of Project Rho Psi is on Greek Row – Main Campus. Enjoy this non-TSU sponsored event, the 1 PARTY 1 PURPOSE 1 TSU on April 9, 9:00 pm – Until at The Standard at the Smith House; 167 Rosa Parks Blvd., Nashville, $25 – $35; Attire: Classy & Chic.

April 9, at 11:00 am, the weekend concludes with a TSU Sunday Worship Service at Lake Providence Missionary Baptist Church, 5891 Nolensville Pike, Nashville.
