The Saturday, October 21st fish fry held by supporters of 19th District State Representative Brenda Gilmore fed the community at large, via the Clarksville Highway-Bordeaux Kroger Parking lot. But those well planned actions couldn’t come close to the love, spiritual and tasty feeding which took place at Kelly Miller Smith Towers (KMST) Apartments.
Many of the KMST senior, handicap and disabled residents graciously welcomed the hot fish dinners; complete with cole slaw and spaghetti. Some added cold drinks and a sweet item to make the meal complete. But either way, the outcome was clear for Rep. Gilmore and her team, it felt good to give back to this more than deserving population, free of all charges.
“She didn’t just breeze in and drop the meals off, they spent time with us. Answering and asking pertinent questions and vowing to find do-able solutions,” said one resident.
There were hugs, photo ops and seemingly a blanket meet and greet. Rep. Gilmore is no stranger to service and community, especially the North Nashville area community.
She cares and has cared for the city of Nashville and the Bordeaux area for many years now, and says that service to others is what she lives for.
Rep. Gilmore is a proud wife (Harry Gilmore), mother (Councilwoman Erica Gilmore), grandmother (Anyah) and community activist whose political platform hinges on integrity, hard work and yes, service to the people whom she gladly serves.
The fish dinners were paid for and personally delivered by Rep. Gilmore and members of her team (Tonya Sherrell, Karra Turrentine and others) to the seniors. For them, the food was an unexpected blessing and a pleasant experience for the residents as well. Most of them either knew of her or actually know her. However, either way between the two separate trips she made to KMST, she was welcomed with open arms on both of them.
She stated that in this life she has weathered many storms and enjoyed much happiness. In the end “I’d like to leave the world a little better than it was before I found it.”
