‘The Great Xscape Tour’ featuring special guests Monica and Tamar Braxton made it’s way to Music City this past Friday night. Bridgestone Arena was packed from top to bottom. Sixteen thousand-plus witnessed unforgettable moments throughout the evening. Kandi Burruss-Tucker, Tameka ‘Tiny’ Harris, and sisters LaTocha and Tamika Scott did not disappoint. They featured music from their three platinum albums: Hummin’ Comin’ At ‘Cha, Off the Hook, and Traces of My Lipstick.

“It was epic,” said an over exuberant female fan.

An impressive lineup of seasoned R&B vets warmed things up for the crowd. Diva songstress Tamar Braxton was first up. She lit the stage on fire with her opening performance with an emotional delivery of her new single ‘Blind.’ Tamar most certainly held her own to kick the night off.

ATL songbird Monica was next, rounding out the pre-Xscape lineup. Monica Denise Brown had the crowd singing along to nearly every word of every song, as she speeded through her classic hits. Of course she sung ‘Why I Love You So Much,’ and certainly she performed ‘Angel Of Mine.’ No doubt, she added ‘Everything To Me’ and ‘So Gone.’ She also took a moment to honor Lauryn Hill with a quick medley of her biggest songs, given the fact that Hill is a musical icon.

Upon announcement, before even appearing, the beloved ‘90s girl group received a strong standing ovation. The fans’ anticipation of the group’s long-awaited reunion was finally here. Out of the gate, Xscape brought nonstop energy as they gave attendees a taste of the old and the new.

Throughout the night, Xscape would wow the audience with their flawless harmonies and effortless dance routines. Their choreography was flawless. The foursome included several of their fan-favorites, running through seemingly every classic in their catalogue with hits like ‘Just Kickin’ It,’ ‘Do You Want To,’ ‘Who Can I Run To?’ ‘Run To The Arms Of The One Who Loves You,’ ‘Feels So Good’ ‘My Little Secret’ and ‘Understanding.’ They also blessed fans with a taste of material from their latest project of two new singles, ‘Dream Killa’ and ‘Wifed Up.’

At one point, early on in the show, the group came out in choir robes, providing a performance of the traditional Gospel music hymn ‘Give Me Clean Heart,’ which allowed the group to remind the audience where they came from and that they still love the Lord.

The foursome got a chance to share their fun-loving sides with fans as well. A break in the show allowed for each group member to shine individually. During one segment, Kandi invited her husband Todd on stage for a quick serenade.

Xscape undoubtedly delivered. There were plenty of magic moments on this night. If the ladies felt they had to ‘show and prove,’ the group most definitely accomplished that feat. The audience never really sat down, remaining on their feet for much of evening. This was a phenomenal performance that fans will be talking about for a long while. The carefully crafted harmonies everyone fell in love with two decades ago are very much still intact.
