Expressions of Faith: Living the life of Christ in 2018

Rev. Monterey D. Lee, Sr.

Have you accepted Jesus Christ as your Lord and savior? Are your sins forgiven? Does God’s Spirit bear witness with your spirit? Romans 8:16-17 says: “The Spirit itself bears witness with our Spirit, that we are the children of God. And if children, then heirs; heirs of God, and joint-heirs with Christ; be that we suffer with him, to be glorified together with Him.” Have you been born again, and do you really want to live for God? If so, there are five things you must do to live the life of Christ in 2018.

First, be sure of your salvation. How can you know you’re saved? By God’s word. The blood makes you safe, and the word makes you sure. 1 John 5:13 says: “These things have I written unto you, that you may know that you have eternal life.”

Second, take a stand for Jesus Christ. Don’t try to be a secret believer, because it won’t work. Confess Christ at every opportunity you get.

“Whosoever therefore shall be ashamed of me and my words in this sinful world, I also the Son of man shall be ashamed of them,” Mark 8:38.

Third, turn from all you know that is wrong in your life. God gives you a new nature, a nature that loves righteousness and hates iniquity. You can overcome. “Sin shall have no dominion over you,” Romans 6:14. You must choose righteousness and forsake sin. Turn your back to it and put it away. “Let not sin therefore reign in your mortal body,” Romans 6:12. Come clean and be what God created you to be, a work of righteousness. Matthew 6:33 reads: “Seek ye first the Kingdom of God, and His righteousness and all these things shall be added unto you.”

Fourth, spend much time in Bible study and prayer. Each week attend Bible Study with your local congregation. The more you read the Bible, the more you will grow. If you want to grow in grace, endeavor in studying God’s word daily. Have a place and time for prayer, and Bible study daily. Be a Bible Christian, not just a churchgoer. Never let a day pass without spending time alone with God. “Study to show thyself approved unto God, a workman that need not to be ashamed, rightly dividing the Word of Truth,” 2 Timothy 2:15.

Lastly, keep busy in God’s service (Kingdom). As a believer you should always find something to do for the Kingdom of God. What is missing out of the word Ch____? You are! You are needed to complete the work of the ministry. What can you do?
1) Give out spiritual material.
2) Evangelize (soul winning)
3) Sing in the choir
4) Usher within the church
5) Train to be a deacon or deaconess
6) Receive the call of God on your life to be a minister of the Gospel
7) Serve as a trustee
8) Work in youth ministry
9) Culinary arts (kitchen ministry)
10) Social media
11) Transportation ministry
12) Bereavement ministry
13) Music ministry
14) Intercessory prayer ministry
15) Beatification ministry, etc.…

Put the things of God first in your life where people can see your light shining in a dark world. If you follow these simple steps in 2018 you will be a bright and happy Christian, and God will use you in His service. You will be a blessing wherever you go.
