Tennessee State University is having several major welcoming public events for potential students, current students, former students, and non-students alike. They include the Spring Preview Day, the Coming Home weekend, and the Legends weekend.
One of my Fraternity brothers has noted that TSU is such a cold-blooded HBCU that we need two homecomings each year, so we have one in the fall, and one in the spring. Each weekend is full of activities that include, but are not limited to football, academic seminars, receptions/parties, health walk/runs, worship service and more.
Legends Weekend runs April 13 – 15, 2018, as the TSU Football Alumni Chapter is excited about hosting their 9th Annual Alvin “Cat” Coleman Legends Weekend in conjunction with the 5th annual Alumni Coming Home Weekend. Be a part of this festive weekend as TSU football players from 1950 – 2015 will participate in a game of flag football preceding the Blue and White scrimmage/Spring Game.
Alumni Coming Home Weekend — affectionately known to some as “Homecoming, Part Two” — kicks off on Friday, April 13, 2018 at 9:00 a.m. with a Golf Tournament at the Hermitage Golf Club, hosted by the Beta Omicron Alumni Chapter of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, followed by an Alumni Open House from 11:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. on the First Floor of Goodwill Manor, sponsored by the Alumni Relations & Annual Giving office. At 1:00 p.m., the Alvin “Cat” Coleman Symposium begins in the Indoor Practice Facility, Room 102. Later that evening, an Alumni Networking Mixer runs from 6:00 p.m. – 12:00 midnight, at Sinema Restaurant & Bar, 2600 8th Ave S, Suite 102.
Friday also bring the TSUEAA STEM Career Fair & Engineering Summit in conjunction with the College of Engineering and Technology. The Job Fair runs from 10:00 a.m. to Noon, followed by Lunch at 12 Noon; after which, the Engineering Summit from 1:00 pm to 3:00 p.m., then a networking break, and the TSUEAA business meeting at 4:00 p.m.
Saturday, April 14, 2018, at 8:00 a.m. runners and at 8:05 a.m. walkers will start the Fifth Annual Big Blue Tiger 5K Run/Walk, beginning at the Floyd-Payne Campus Center and ending at the William Jasper Hale Stadium, affectionately known as “The Hole.”
Spring Preview Day, hosted by the TSU Admissions and Recruitment Office, begins at 9:00 a.m. in the Floyd-Payne Campus Center. More details on that event below.
At 1:00 p.m., the Legends Football Game kicks off in “The Hole” followed by the annual Blue & White Scrimmage Game at 3:00 p.m. This free and fun event allows the community to fill Hale Stadium and watch next season’s Tigers and this year’s Aristocrat of Bands and cheerleaders do their things.
The weekend ends on Sunday, April 15, 2018 with a 9:00 a.m. Worship Service at the Ebenezer Community Church, located at 2624 Morena Street in Nashville.
Spring Preview Day 2018 will allow potential students to meet with academic departments and student organizations, tour the beautiful TSU campus, hear the world famous Aristocrat of Bands, attend admissions & financial aid workshops and the TSU spring Blue & White football game in historic Hale Stadium. High School Seniors should bring official copies of their high school transcripts and ACT/SAT Scores for “On the Spot” Admissions.
