Star Wars vs. Star Trek: Are you ready for the battle of the millennium? Whether you don the robes of a Jedi master or the gold shirt of the Starfleet command division, you won’t want to miss this epic Way Late Play Date saga featuring two of the biggest science fiction franchises in history. Enjoy an intergalactic night of reckoning at Nashville’s magnificent Adventure Science Center. Once again they are pitting these iconic science-fiction / fantasy franchises against one another to see which of the two fandoms has the strongest following in the GNA (the greater Nashville area). And, while doing so, they will be exploring some of the science behind these two wildly popular series; it is a Science Center, after all. The now seemingly bi-ennial event is Thursday, July 26 from 6:30 to 10 pm; they held them in 2014 and in 2016 and they sold out both times.
Way Late Play Dates are adults-only quarterly events designed for a night of science and fun. Each Way Late has a special theme with cool science activities to take part in. Plus, you’ll have all the floor exhibits to yourself, without a bunch of kids running about, including the laser game Body Battles in BodyQuest, the Tilt-a-World in Space Chase and the many levels of the Adventure Tower. All the center’s exhibits are adult-friendly, so if the kids can climb it or slide down it, so can you.
Way Late Play Dates typically sell out before the event, especially Star Wars vs. Star Trek, so don’t procrastinate. Tickets are $35 for not-yet-members and $25 for members and include admission to all exhibits and activities, three beverage tickets (beer, hard cider, or soda), planetarium shows and a souvenir cup. Planetarium shows (at 7:00, 7:45, 8:30 & 9:15) are first come, first served. For groups of 20 or more, call 615-401-5067 for group rates. This event is for adults only, you must be 21 or older and have a valid photo ID with you. Please purchase your tickets in advance, as they will sell out. Tickets are non-refundable, but are transferable. All proceeds support Adventure Science Center’s interactive exhibits and hands-on science experiences. Mark your calendar now for the next Way Late Play Date; Thursday, October 11, 2018: Harry Potter.
