Sarah Gaines has been known in the Gospel Music Industry for many years. Both with and without her ex-husband Billy Gaines, who are award-winning, talented artists, writers, and producers. The event was appropriately titled; “Sarah Gaines Benefit Concert Love Through Giving” (join the fight against Cancer).
A combination of two mega-church families, Pleasant Green Baptist and Born Again Church, laid the groundwork and intense planning to raise money for her forthcoming Cancer Treatment.
The benefit concert featured some of Gospel Music Industry’s top names, on and off the stage, and Pastor Jackson of Pleasant Green put his heart and soul into his calling as the program Master of Ceremonies.
The churches are trying to raise $50,000 to try and cover medical expenses not covered by her insurance, and travel to California for her and a dear friend, who will be full time support for Sarah.
The announcer, Alvin Love, shared that they are grateful for whatever could be donated and shared the ways give. The love felt and clearly seen in the sanctuary turned concert hall at the Nashville based Pleasant Green Baptist Church that night was none other than amazing. All for a community warrior, music industry trail-blazer, wife, mother, grandmother and woman of God.
Performing and/or speaking at the benefit included, but weren’t limited to; multi-award winning gospel icon CeCe Winans, multi-award winning pastors/ artist Angelo & Veronica Pertucci, multi-award winning artist Billy Gaines, and Juan and Lisa Winans. There were also many verbal and video tributes from various friends and family from over the years including one from Jackie Patillo, President & Executive Director of the Gospel Music Association (GMA). A final tribute was delivered by Joshua C. Jackson and with words of gratitude by the woman of the hour, Sarah Gaines.
At height of career, as part of a duo, Sarah Gaines’ recordings rose to the top of BET’s Video Charts at #2 position with “That is Why” as well as multiple radio singles reaching Billboard’s Top 40. Gaines’ recent solo projects include her 2006 releases: “Miss Kitty & the Neighborhood Play Place” and “Miss Kitty & the Neighborhood Christmas Show”. These projects include all original songs written and sung by Sarah Gaines and are produced by her son, Jason Gaines.
