“Do you also, When you see these things happening, know that the kingdom of God is near,” Luke 21:31.
We have certainly truly witnessed over the last six weeks, devastating news of recent tornadoes and hurricanes (Florence, Michael) in Florida, and earthquakes in Indonesia and the Dominican Republic. These disasters have taken the lives of many all over this land and various countries.
When Jesus Christ foretold “famines, pestilence and earthquakes in various places,” His Words encompass natural disasters that include earthquakes, typhoons, tornadoes and other such violent storms in the air. Are such natural disasters increasing as Jesus foretold?
What is God trying to reveal to us at this very moment? It doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out. If there was every a time for us to go to God in deep prayer, and to repent of our sins it is now (1 John 1:9)! If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.
Our prayers at this very moment should be continuous for the victims and their families—and for us to find ways and means to reach out to meet their innermost needs.
Prayer for Victims
Most Precious Heavenly Father,
I come boldly to the throne of grace this morning to ask that you lift up the hearts of those that are crushed and heavily burdened. And to those that are filled with worry and fear, not knowing what their futures entail.
Even though their futures may seem hopeless or helpless, remind them of your promises that they never walk alone (Matthew 28:20). Lo, I’m with you always, even to the ends of this earth. And that you are a God of restoration and healing. Also, reaffirm to them, your ultimate and divine promise that You “Haven’t brought them this far, to leave them NOW.”
My innermost prayer will be that God will forever provide and meet their innermost needs, and that they can trust that God will restore and replace what has been taken.
I want to give you, Father, an advanced praise for what has already been done, and for the things that you’re gonna do. As they see the hand of You God move through this situation, If perhaps someone was not a believer, may they come running saying, “What must I do, to be saved?”
