Expressions of faith: Be on time

Min. Brandy Moore

Take a moment and think about God. Imagine God reclaiming time on things that we gave away to something or someone that wasn’t necessary. The very thing that we think less of is what God values the most. Our very lives have been put on a timer with God. “You have decided the length of our lives. You know how many months we will live, and we are not given a minute longer,” Job 14:5, NLT. Time is very precious, and our actions determine whether we are on time with God.

In order to be on time, we have to show up. Position yourself with God. Having the proper posture in the presence of God will allow your mind, body, and spirit to be on time for the will of God. Have you ever noticed while driving that if you or others are distracted, they begin to swerve in and out of lanes? When we don’t have our mind fully aware, we are liable to mess up and possibly crash. If your head is down and spirit is low, you are not seeing the directions God is giving you. If you are easily distracted by anything that comes your way, you begin to swerve in and out of alignment with the will of God. How can God continue to move you in the direction of continual blessings, if you are not showing up to the correct lane? Show up and be in the presence of God. Allow and invite God into your life, and watch as you align with the will of God how your life moves with ease. Position yourself for greatness in order to be on time.

Being on time requires us to trust God in all that we do. We have the ability to alter God’s true plans for our lives when we choose to be late. How can you be late? Many times we question why God does things. Why do I have to go through so many trials? When are you going to bless me God? Don’t you think I have done enough to deserve this blessing Lord? Are you sure I’m supposed to do this? Our very own thoughts and doubt delay our time with God. Our actions sometimes even lead to us giving up completely. Our negativity and doubt in the process of moving delays and confuses the will of God in our lives. We throw ourselves off track when we allow our human minds to speak for our spiritual minds. We must learn to trust in God in all that we do and allow Him to guide us. Proverbs 3:5-6 says: “Trust in the Lord with all your heart; do not depend on your own understanding. Seek His will in all you do, and He will show you which path to take.” Our spirit must obey God and be led only by Him. Allowing God room to take over and guide you enables dispensations (time periods) to work for your good. When trouble arises, allow God room to guide you. If you allow your pathway to be cluttered with others opinions and worldly advice, God has no room to move you. Let God guide and you won’t be late.

God does not operate in time because He is time. God is omnipresent, which means he is everywhere at the same time all the time. We operate in time, and therefore need God in order to be on time. God created a pathway for your life that is optimal when you maximize everything you have the ability to do by being on time. It has become easier to be distracted from the will of God in our society today. What are you giving your most time to? Social media? Technology? Gossip? TV? Food? Or are you willing to give your time to God and allow Him to show you what to do. The very desires we have in our own plans are less satisfying than the blessings God has in store for you. Allow God in your life today, and be on time for your blessings. What are you waiting for?
