Expressions of faith: Glorious benediction

Dr. Monterey D. Lee, Sr

Jude 1:24-25 says: “Now unto Him that is able to keep you from falling, and to present you 0faultless before the presence of His glory with exceeding joy, to the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power, both now and ever. Amen.”

Jude the brother of Jesus and James starts his epistle with a blessing and ends his teaching with God’s assurance. God will keep the believers from falling prey to false teachers. Although false teachers are widespread and dangerous, we won’t have to be afraid if we trust God and are rooted and grounded in Him. To be sinless and faultless, one will have to be in the ultimate condition of the beloved when he or she finally sees God face to face. When Christ appears, and we are given our new body, we will be like Him. 1 John 3:1-2 says: “Beloved, what manner of love the Father has bestowed upon us, that we should be called the sons and daughters of God: therefore, the world knows us not because it knows not God. Beloved, now are we the sons and daughters of God, and it does not yet appear what we shall be: but we know that, when He shall appear, we shall be like Him; for we shall see Him as He is.”

The coming of Christ’s presence will be more wonderful than we could ever imagine. The congregation to whom Jude wrote was vulnerable to harassment and to temptations towards immoral living. He encouraged the believers to remain firm in their faith and trust in God’s promises for their future. This was more important beca-use they were living in a time of increased apostasy.

We, too, are living in the last days, much closer to the end than where the original readers of this letter were. We, too, are susceptible to doctoral error. We, too, are tempted to give into sin. Although there are more false teachings around us, we need not fear or give up in to despair because God can keep us from falling, and He guarantees if we remain faithful. He will bring us into His presence and give us everlasting joy.

Jude encourages the people to stay faithful to God and never give in to anything that would jeopardize their relationship and eternal glory. My brothers and sisters remain faithful to God in all that you do. Let your speech be of such great report that God is always through you glorified, that He will lift you up and take you to a better place in Him. Sow now unto Him who can keep you and I from falling, and to present us faultless before His presence with exceeding great joy. To the only wise God our Savior, be glory and majesty, dominion and power. Both now and forever more; world without end; in Jesus name, Amen!
