Lyft partners with The District to offer Smart Rides for the holidays

Lyft, whose mission is to improve people’s lives with the world’s best transportation, is partnering with more than 50 establishments in The District to offer Smart Rides for Lower Broadway revelers this holiday season.

“After several years, we know the Davidson County Sheriff’s Office is getting out of the business of sober rides,” said District 19 Metro Councilmember Freddie O’Connell, who represents The District. “These days, Lyft makes it so much easier to avoid ever getting behind the wheel impaired, and I’m excited they are stepping in to fill this community need in partnership with The District.”

Each ‘Ride Smart’ partner business in The District will receive $220 worth of free Lyft ride credit to give out to patrons to ensure they have a reliable ride home during the month of December.

“We love for people to have a good time in a safe, responsible way,” said Max Goldberg, co-owner of Strategic Hospitality, which operates Merchants and the forthcoming Downtown Sporting Club. “We are thrilled to partner with Lyft to offer the ‘Ride Smart’ program to those out imbibing downtown this holiday season. The holidays are a time to slow down and be with family, and we want to make sure everyone is getting home safely to theirs!”

Lyft is providing more free, safe rides than ever for Nashvillians and visitors during the holidays. This month, Lyft estimates it will give away more than $15,000 in rides from The District alone.

“Hospitality includes taking care of the guests even after they leave our building,” said Acme Feed & Seed owner Tom Morales. “This partnership with Lyft means ensuring that our patrons get home safely and responsibly. We appreciate the chance to team up with a company that’s looking out for a safe Nashville this holiday season.”

Lyft’s commitment to Music City has hit new heights this year, as the company now has more than 750 employees at its customer experience center on 2nd Avenue North, in the heart of the District. The Nashville center is San Francisco company’s largest office outside the Bay Area.

“Lyft loves Nashville, so we’re showing our appreciation by sending riders home from holiday celebrations in The District in a free Lyft,” said Lyft Nashville General Manager Sam Nadler. “We’re thankful for our many great partners in The District for keeping the holidays bright in Nashville.”
