The Women’s Wave coming to Nashville on January 19

Participants at the 2018 Womens March and Rally.

Nashville is one of the major cities to be among those participating in the 3rd Annual Women’s Marches to be held nationwide in 2019. In the wake of the 2018 midterms that propelled an unprecedented wave of women to Congress, Women March Tennessee announces a Women’s March Rally in Nashville in coordination with sister marches in cities and communities across the globe. The event in Nashville is one of over 176 cities in 46 states that are happening nationwide on January 19, 2019, commemorating the 2017 Women’s March on Washington.

“On January 19, people from around the country will unite in Washington, D.C. to make their voices heard, said Lakeithea Nicole, Vice President for Women’s March Tennessee. “We’ve been organizing locally to advocate for the policies that matter to us, and impact women’s lives, and we’re flooding the streets in solidarity with our sisters in DC to remind the country that Nashville resists.”

Two years after the historic 2017 Women’s March that was the largest single-day protest in US history, women, femmes, and allies will march in towns, cities, and communities from Nashville to Chicago as part of a nationwide #WomensWave.

“The 2017 Women’s March galvanized this country and birthed a new wave of the women’s rights movement,” said Darlene Neal, President for Women’s March Tennessee. “That wave is taking to the streets, here in Nashville and nationwide, and we’re coming with an agenda.”

#WomensWaveTN on January 19 in Nashville will include political demonstrations in the morning and a huge afternoon rally from 1 – 4 PM with music, dance, and amazing speakers at Public Square Nashville – 1 Public Sq., Nashville, TN 37201.
