Metro Nashville Councilman DeCosta Hastings hosts 4th of July barbecue and fireworks in District 2

Delicious food cooked by Jack’s Bar-B-Que and Harold’s Chicken was available.

One the north bluff of the Cumberland River last Thursday, Councilmember DeCosta Hastings hosted a big 4th of July Celebration.

Council member Hastings had his own fireworks for this first of its kind event. There was an active crowd of almost 300 people on hand despite the heavy rain all afternoon before the event started.

Delicious barbecue and sides, entertaining music and a play area for children promoted a very family oriented event.

“This event is a great opportunity for District 2 residents to connect with one another and enjoy an asset in our district,” said District 2 Metro Councilman Hastings.

Residents of District 2 enjoy some great barbecue and prepare for the fireworks.

The almost 300 people enjoyed grilled hamburgers and hotdogs from Harold’s Chicken, and pork shoulders from Jack’s Bar-B-Que. Other businesses such as Savage & Co., Imperial Cleaning Systems and D+M helped sponsor the event. Many elected officials and candidates for public office stopped into campaign.

Attendees were able to bring their own lawn chairs and blankets to enjoy fireworks from a great viewpoint looking south toward Downtown Nashville.

“I am looking forward to continuing to move our district forward and make this an annual event,” said Hastings. “I need the voter’s support to be re-elected on August 1.

Residents begin to set up their lawn chairs and blankets to watch the fireworks.
