Celebration of Life held for Elder Glenn Clay

Rev. Glenn Clay, age 56, passed away September 12, 2019. He was pastor of the historic First Community Church.

“He was an incredible pastor, teacher and leader to our church family, community and city,” according to church officials. “Pastor Clay was an extraordinarily loving and caring husband, father and family man who was a joy to be around. He was an amazing friend to many and a true friend of God. He was a man of great conviction and compassion who gave wholeheartedly of himself for God’s mission and purpose for his life. He leaves a magnificent legacy that impacts throughout all generations.”

Rev. Clay’s Celebration of Life was held at the Cathedral of Praise on Tuesday.

He is survived by his devoted wife Ella Bernadette Johnson-Clay; daughter Shawna-Leigh Clay-Forrest (Michael); grandchildren Diamond, Johnothan, Micah, and Sean; brothers Dennis, Clarence, Alfred, Tim (Shanta) and Henry Clay; sisters Mary Brown, Sarieda Evans, Elnora Lett; uncle, Joe Bradford (Carlies); special cousins Rev. Raymond and Alice Caruthers; Godmother Ellen Reynolds; and a host of other relatives and friends.
