28th annual Benefit Silent Auction set for December 7

St. John AME Church is excited once again to offer great gift opportunities at its 28th annual Benefit Silent Auction! On Saturday, December 7, the public is invited and encouraged to come by St. John A.M.E. Church, located at 18222 Formosa Street between the hours of 12:30-2:30 pm for a unique shopping experience.

In an effort provide nice items to purchase during the holiday season and support those in need of shelter, this silent auction is a strategic method of supporting the activities of the Lay Organization at St. John.

“For 32 years, St. John A.M.E. Church has housed and fed the homeless every Saturday night between November 1 and March 31,” said M. Mercedes-Lytle, chair of the St. John Lay Organization and the silent auction committee. “To date, more than 5,000 persons have been our guests.”

Shoppers are invited to shop through rooms of electronics, books, Christmas items, toys, personal items, art, household items and much more. Gift certificates will also be available through some of St. John’s supporters.

This year’s contributors to the Silent Auction include: Woodcuts; The Frist Art Museum; Jack’s Bar-B-Que; Connors Steak & Seafood; Cracker Barrel; Vast Resources; Red Lobster; Office Max, Nolensville Rd.; Lowe’s; Walmart; Hamilton Church; Publix; O’Charley’s; Katy’s Hallmark; Cheesecake Factory; Slim and Husky’s; Freida’s Faves; LongHorn Steakhouse; Amerigo’s; Del Frisco’s Grill and others.
