‘Tis the season to spread holiday cheer! Join the Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee (ULYPMT) 8th annual Holiday Social and Toy Drive on Saturday, December 7, 2019. This year’s event will be held from 8:00 p.m. until 11:00 p.m., at Events at 1923, located at 1923 Church Street, Nashville, TN 37203. Come out and ‘“Party With A Purpose!”
This is ULYPMT’s fifth year supporting The FIND Design (http://www.thefinddesign.org/) in their holiday program serving underprivileged youth. The youth in this program range from infants to 17 years of age, boys and girls. Other items to consider purchasing are socks, gloves, sweatshirts, jackets, sweatpants, long-sleeved shirts, toiletries (deodorant/lotion), gift cards of at least $15 (for teens), and cash donations are also acceptable. Gifts will be distributed at the The F.I.N.D. Gifts of Love program.
“The Holiday Party has grown to be one of our signature events and one that we are proud to lead because of the immediate positive effect on middle Tennessee families,” said Shani Glapion, President of the Urban League Young Professionals of Middle Tennessee. “We’ve partnered with the F.I.N.D. Design to support their program for underprivileged youth. I’ve seen the looks on parents and children’s faces when they’ve received gifts from our holiday social, and it confirms that we’re doing invaluable work. For us, every initiative is mission-focused, even the Holiday Social and Toy Drive. Ultimately, we want to improve our community and this is but one way we ensure that gets done.”
Your ticket includes two drink tickets for the cocktail bar and hors d’oeuvres. Tickets can be purchased at the door, but advanced purchase is suggested because general admission and tickets purchased at the door grants access to the event only. This is a 21 & up event!
The F.I.N.D Design, (TFD) is a 501c3 community-based organization serving the Middle Tennessee area by providing group mentoring, social-emotional development and life training, community outreach and family engagement for youth ages 13-18. The goal of the program is to pinpoint young ladies and men who could potentially have, or have had, a rough transition to adulthood and offer a positive support system to avoid the pitfalls that can disrupt their lives.
TFD’s overall goal is that each young person that comes through their organization receives their high school diploma or GED. And once that is accomplished, to execute the long-term goals defined in the program. Their Mission is strengthening youth achievement and the opportunity for success through mentoring, social-emotional learning, outreach and family involvement. Their Vision is rebuilding the minds, spirits, and hearts of the family unit one person at a time. Their Motto is Building Relationships, Create Change!
The ULYPMT is an auxiliary unit of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) comprised of talented locals between the ages of 21 to 40. They are committed to corporate, social, and community activism as well as improving Middle Tennessee’s African American and minority business climates through networking and business development.
