The Urban League of Middle Tennessee (ULMT) is a historic civil rights and urban advocacy organization, providing direct services that impact and improve the lives of thousands in underserved communities across Middle Tennessee. The ULMT’s Annual Equal Opportunity Day (EOD) Luncheon is held every February at the Downtown Hilton in Nashville, Tennessee. The event is the premiere time to reflect on and celebrate the power of diversity and inclusion in the workplace, bringing together more than 500 people to explore issues affecting African Americans and other minority communities across Middle Tennessee.
Thursday, February 27, from 11:30 AM – 1:00 PM at Hilton Nashville Downtown, 121 4th Ave S, Nashville, TN 37201, the EOD will provide a unique marketing and collaborative opportunity for companies and organizations, providing access to some 500 attendees representing consumer markets at the local, and state levels. The luncheon is a prime opportunity for businesses to connect with consumers who utilize a wide range of products and services. Involvement is not only good for business, it also supports numerous programs and services provided by the ULMT. The collective economic impact of the programs and operations of the Urban League of Middle Tennessee is over $450k per year. Over the past decade, the ULMT has served more than 37,000 individuals in key program areas.
ULMT is pleased to welcome Tina Simmons, Senior Vice President of Human Resources of Comcast Cable’s Central Division as their guest speaker for this year’s Equal Opportunity Day Luncheon. Simmons oversees all facets of human resources and organizational effectiveness for the Division and for all people-related functions including: compensation and benefits, diversity, employee relations, labor relations, employee communications, HR policy, performance management, talent management.
Tina Simmons serves as Senior Vice President of Human Resources for Comcast Cable’s Central Division. In this role she is responsible for leading all facets of human resources and organizational effectiveness for the Division and for all people-related functions including: compensation and benefits, diversity, employee relations, labor relations, employee communications, HR policy, performance management, talent acquisition, and talent management.
“I work in a competitive and dynamic industry where we’re constantly pushing ourselves to be more creative,” says Simmons. “Organizational Dynamics is about innovating and not just problem-solving. It’s about stretching your brain in order to understand how an organization functions or why it sometimes doesn’t. As opposed to being just reactive to an issue, the courses allow you to identify strategies and tactics that help move the organization forward in an appropriate and positive direction.”
A 1989 Bachelor of Science in Business Administration and Marketing graduate of Villanova University, Simmons received a Master of Science in Organizational Dynamics from the University of Pennsylvania in 2006. Tina completed the Harvard Business School/CTAM (Cable & Telecommunications Association for Marketing) and the Cornell University ILR School HR Strategy Executive Education programs. Tina is a member of the Phi Beta Omega Chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., and resides in Atlanta, Georgia with her husband.
