What must I do to be saved?

There is nothing that anyone can do to earn salvation. We cannot make ourselves good enough to earn it or go to heaven. Salvation is a free gift from God. “The only way to be saved is through Jesus Christ,” Jesus said in John 14:61. “I am the way, the truth and the life, no one comes to the father but through me.”

If you have never given your life to Jesus and have never accepted him as Lord of your life, the time to do it is now! The invitation is open to everyone. There is no better time than the present to ask him to become your personal Lord and savior, because all have sinned and fallen short of the glory of God (Romans 3:8).

God loves you and gave His Son, Jesus so that you may live eternally with him. He also demonstrated his love to us as sinners: Christ died for us (Romans 5:8). There are many blessings that are available to God’s children (those who accept Jesus into their lives). These same blessings can be available to you today. In Acts 16:30 a man asked Jesus: “Sirs, what must I do to be saved. Jesus replied, believe on the Lord Jesus Christ and you shall be saved.” Yes, it is that simple. You may be thinking: “I want to become a child of God and accept Jesus into my life.”

If you confess with your mouth to the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you shall be saved (Romans 10:9). “But as many as receive Him to them He gave the right to become children of God, to those who believe in His Name,” John 1:12.

Pray the following prayer if you are sincere and want to become a child of God: “Dear God, I believe that you gave your Son Jesus to die for me. I believe He shed His blood to pay for my sins and that you raised him from the dead so I can be Your child and live with you eternally in heaven. I am asking Jesus to come into my heart right now and save me. I confess you as the Lord and Master of my life. I thank you Lord for loving me enough to lay down your life for me. Please take my life now and use it for Your Glory. I ask all of this in Jesus’ name. Amen.”

If you have just confessed and read the above prayer, I would like to welcome you into the family. Tell someone about your decision. Read your Bible daily. A great place to begin reading is the Gospel of John.

Christ fully understands our hurts and pains. He desires to relieve you of all your worries. Find a good Bible-believing church and put God first in your life and begin to see and expect wonderful blessings in your life.
