Using the believer’s authority to resist the enemy (part 2)

When you put on your spiritual armor you cannot just put on one armor. You have to be fully clothed in all of your armor in order to be effective against the enemy. The Bible describes your enemy as a thief that has come to steal, to kill and to destroy (John 10:10). He prowls around like a roaring lion seeking whoever he may devour (1st Peter 5:8).

You have to stay dressed for battle. You must be fully clothed with the identity of Jesus Christ. The enemy will do anything to destroy believers in Christ. He uses various means of attacking believers. He is deceptive and well organized and will not stop if he thinks he can win against us. He attacks individuals and he attacks families. He attacks us emotionally, physically, financially, and spiritually. He uses distractions that appeal to our weaknesses. He uses our prideful attitudes and our fleshly wants.

Do not be afraid of the enemy (the devil), but stand strong against him. The Bible says to believe, submit to God, resist Satan and he will flee (James 4:7). For God has not given us a spirit of fear but a spirit of love, power and a sound mind (2 Timothy 1:7). Always be on guard, the enemy leaves and may return. Remember that he is a thief, and if the thief knows he can readily get into your home (body) he will come back. God has promised us that he will protect us if we keep our minds stayed on Him. You must have faith in Jesus and his victory over the enemy. It’s the power of Christ that is in you and his power that is available to you in the form of the Holy Spirit that will help you to overcome. When you put on the armor of God you put on Gods’ power. Keep yourself armed against the attacker. Learn to use Gods’ Word to resist the enemy just like Jesus did by putting on your armor daily.
