Is it time for a spiritual overhaul?

There are some individuals who have received Jesus but still do and say things that do not reflect God’s will for their lives. There are believers who try to endure and do things on their own. There are some that try to find solutions in worldly things. Is your helper God? Or is your helper something or someone other than God? What do you do when worldly ideas fail? What do you do when friends and family disappoint you? Did you forget that there is someone who can meet all your needs? His name is Almighty God.

Many people living in this world do not think about God or believe that God exists. They think about and rely on themselves, others, or worldly things to supply their needs. This is the worlds’ way of thinking. The worlds’ way is saying: “I want what I want; I’ve got to have it now, or else.” When we think only about our fleshly desires, we are not considering the impact that our decisions may have on anyone other than ourselves. We do not consider the lasting effects of our decisions. We do not consider that our decisions impact others around us. The decisions that you make today can have a lasting impact upon your entire life and upon the world. Think seriously before you make a decision. Pray to God and ask Him to show you and guide you. Ask Him daily to show you His will for your life.

Decisions that you make about your spiritual health can also have an impact on others around you—and have a direct impact upon your eternal destination. Choosing wisely for your life depends upon the choices you make today. Think about where you want to spend eternity. When you die and leave this earth, where will you go? Will you go to be with Jesus in heaven, or will you go to hell? God has given you a choice. “I have set before you life and death, blessing and curse. So choose life in order that you and your descendants might live,” Deuteronomy 30:19.

When you have to make any decision, you should seek God first. Seek God now including his way of doing things—all other things you need will be added unto you. Seek God’s way, not the worlds’ way. But first, be sure that you have already committed your life to Jesus. Make Him Lord of your life. This is the first and most important step in order to receive from God. Once you put God first, all your other needs will come to you. What does it mean when He says to seek Him first? God is saying to seek his way of doing things first. Seek your salvation first. What do you spend your time doing? Do you spend your time acquiring worldly riches? Or do you spend your time seeking the things of God’s kingdom? Worldly riches are temporary. They will fade away. Seek Godly riches. They are eternal. Your riches are found in Christ. If you take care of God’s business first, He will take care of yours. “Seek ye first, the kingdom of God and all things will be added unto you,” Matthew 6:33.

Do you spend your time acquiring money and goods that will perish? Or do you spend time serving God and doing good deeds, which will live on for eternity? God has promised in Philippians 4;19 to supply our every need but His idea of what we need is different than ours. Trust Him to supply what you need today. Do not wait another day.

A great example is recorded in the Bible in the Book of Job, chapters 2-3, of how God supplied Job’s needs after he was attacked by the devil. God is no respecter of persons. He did it then, and he certainly can supply your needs now. Spend time with God. Study his word. It will transform you into the image that He desires for you.
