Expressions of faith: Preparer of the seed

Bishop Monterey D. Lee, Sr

“But that on the good ground are they, which in an honest and good heart, having heard the word, keep it, and bring forth fruit with patience [KJV].

“Those seeds that fell on good ground and the people who listen to the message and keep it in good and honest hearts. They last and produce a harvest,” [NEV] Luke 8:15-16.

As the born-again, our obedience to God is not to gain God’s favor and blessings for our life. It’s to please Him and to further His plan on earth. All of God’s creations were created by God at His will, not our own. For the pleasure of God’s will, we were created to uphold and to build the Kingdom of God.

Mankind can and will experience the fullness of God’s power, purpose, and promise as we live out the word of God. God offers His Spirit to those who will hear His word and keep it in there hearts.

“For it is God which works in you to do His will and for His good pleasure,” Philippians 2:13.

We receive the Spirit of God as a daily guide as we walk on the path that please Him. God is doing His work in us, and we are the recipients of His goodness. What a blessing to know that God is doing a work in you for His glory. This is why each day we walk in the joy of the Lord.

The Joy of the Lord is our strength!

Jesus explains the parable of the seed in Luke 8: “The disciples asked Jesus, ‘what might this parable be?’ Jesus says, ‘Unto you it is given to know the mysteries of the kingdom of God: but to others in parables; that seeing, they might not see, and hearing they might not understand,” Luke 8:10.

Jesus was going through towns and villages, telling the good news about God’s kingdom. The seed is God’s word (message).

The seeds that fell along the road are the people who hear the message. But the devil comes and removes (snatches) the message (word) out of their hearts, so that they will not believe and be saved.

The seeds that fell on rocky ground are the people who gladly heard the message and accepted it with joy. But they don’t have deep roots, and they believe only for a little while. As soon as life gets hard (and temptation comes), they give up. They fall away.

The seeds that fell among the thorn bushes are symbolic of people who hear the message, but are so eager for riches and pleasures they never produce anything—no fruit to perfection.

The seeds that fell on good ground are symbolic of people who listen to the message and keep it in good and honest hearts. They last and produce a harvest with patience.

When you are chosen by God, you hear the word and you keep it in your hearts. You know how to think so that you may produce a harvest for the Kingdom of God. God honors your commitment to His word. We hear it and then live it. Everything you do will affect your seed. Whoever comes after you will live by your seed. If you’re saved, your seed will be saved. If you are respectful, your seed will be respectful.

You are to receive the word in your life so you can give others depth—a spiritual deepness and awareness of life. You don’t need people in your life to feed you. You need people in your life to give you depth.

No man lights a candle, covers it up with a vessel, and puts it under a bed. Instead, he sets it out on a candlestick, so that they who enter in may see the light. God’s word will develop in you as you grow in His word.

Be the preparer of the seed to build the Kingdom of God!
