Expressions of faith
Unity of the Spirit

(text taken from Ephesians 4:1-16, key vs. 4, & 7-10;  Corinthians 12:12-27; Psalms 68:18)

“There is one body, and one Spirit, even as you are called in one hope of your calling, One Lord, one faith, one baptism, One God and Father of all, who is above all, and  through all, and in you all,” Ephesians 4:4-6.

All believers in Christ belong to one body; all of us are united under one head, who is Jesus Christ himself.

“For as the body is one, and has many members, and all the members of that one body, being many, are one body: so also is Christ. For by one Spirit are we all baptized into one body, whether we be Jews of Gentiles, whether we be bound or free; and have been all made to drink into one Spirit,” 1 Corinthians 12:12-27.

As the body of Christ, we are composed of many types of gifts and abilities to build the body. All believers have one thing in common, that is faith in Christ. As the body of Christ we are all baptized into holiness and truth in Christ Jesus. We are born into one family, God’s family. This is why we drink into one Spirit. This means that each of us has received the same Holy Spirit who completely fills our innermost beings. We are a Spiritual body.

People we are a Spiritual body and each of us has God-given gifts that will strengthen the whole body. This is the active presence of God in you.

God has transcended His existence beyond the normal or physical level. This is why He has called us into this life of existing in Him. With the God-given gifts that we have, we will strengthen the body. This is why we are being conditioned completely in Him so that we can remain or dwell forever in the Spirit of His imminence. We are in the Spirit of His existence. We are in Him, and He is in us. We exist!

“But unto every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. Wherefore He [Christ] said, When He [Christ] ascended up on high, He [Christ] led captivity captive, and gave gifts unto all men. Now grace was given to each one of us according to the measure of Christ’s gift. For it says: When He [Christ] ascended on high, He [Christ] took the captives captive; He [Christ] gave gifts to people.

Any one that violates either His transcendence or His immanence is not of God, and is not a true picture of who God is within you in the earth,” Ephesians 4:7-10, KJV.

Remember, God is transcended. His existence is beyond the normal or physical levels. This is why He has called us into this life, His life, so we can and will exist in Him and in Him only. This is why we are being conditioned completely in Him. We are being conditioned so that we can remain or dwell forever in the Spirit of His Imminence, His existence.

“God is pictured as a conquering King. You have ascended on high, you have led captivity captive [you as God have victory over sin and death],” Psalm 68:18.

As God, you have conquered all things as King, and you have received from the God-head gifts for all men. This is why every one of us is given grace according to the measure of the gift of Christ. For you have ascended up on high, and held captivity captive.

You, God, have set us all free from the bondage of sin and death as your crucifixion and resurrection. This is the victory you have over Satan. So when Christ ascended to heaven, as a conquering King, He gave gifts to the church [the body of Christ]. When he freed us, He gave us gifts. This is why He descended first into the lower parts of the earth before He ascended to give spiritual gifts to his people on earth. God sent the Holy Spirit to take His place as the Superintendent [keeper of His people, His body] of His Church.

The power of the kingdom of God is now with men. This is why He came to the lower parts of the earth to give gifts so you and I are filled with the power of the kingdom of God. He came to earth and faced death to rescue all people.

He faced death so that we would be one in Him. By taking captivity captive, Christ clearly demolished (pulled down) all sin, pride, arrogance, bondage, slavery, captivity, and darkness.

He that descended is the same also that ascended far above all heavens, that He might fill all things. This is why as the body of Christ the strongholds of Satan are broken down by the power of the Risen Christ. This is why we have oneness in Christ, because He has destroyed all strongholds in the life of the people of God. We have Christ’s power and gifting for the building up of the kingdom of God. We are unified with the Spirit!
