“That we are no longer little children, tossed to and fro, and carried away with every wind of doctrine [teaching], by the sleight of men, and cunning craftiness, whereby they [men] lie in wait to deceive in cunning cleverness. But speaking the truth in love, let us grow up into Him in all things, which is head, even Christ. Let us grow in every way into Him. Christ Jesus,” Ephesians 4:14-15.
There are two things we need to learn today from the word: 1) Christ is the Way, Truth, and the Life. This is why we have the word of God that gives us all things as we grow in the truth.
“I am the way, the truth, and the life,” John 14:6.
As we unite our lives with Him and become one in the Spirit, we have full access to God. The only way to God is through Jesus Christ. “No one comes unto the Father, but by me, and when you come through me, you receive the benefits of being the child of God.”
2) We have a guide [keeper] that guides us as the church to stay in the will of God each day. The Holy Spirit or the Spirit of Truth ministers to us each day to keep us followers of Christ. Remember we follow after Christ to have fellowship with mankind. We are ministered to each day by the Spirit of Truth to minister to others.
“The Spirit of Truth, is come. He [the Holy Spirit] will guide you into all truth,” John 16:13. As followers of Christ, we must be committed to the truth. This means both our words, and actions must be honest and true.
We are the reflection of Christ’s integrity. This is why we are no longer children, tossed to and fro, and carried about, or away with every wind of doctrine by the cunning craftiness of men—all because it sounds good. You need to know for yourself if it is the word of truth. The Holy Spirit reveals the truth to the follower, you and I.
“You shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free,” John 8:32.
Those who do not mature in the word of truth are targets of the enemy who operates with trickery and cunning craftiness, waiting to deceive you. The only way to avoid this is to grow/mature in the word of truth. This is why God wants us to grow up in all things—in the word, in your prayer life, in your daily walk, in your finances, in knowledge, wisdom, understanding, in forgiveness, in love, in planning, organizing, in responsibility, in gratification, and hard work ethics. The list goes on and on. Just grow up!
When you grow up, you will know how to relate to one another as the family of God. This builds your witness and character for the Lord. Live to be different, live to impact others, live to be like Him.
When we grow to be more like Him, we will appreciate life and others more.
This is why we speak the truth; we grow in truth; we grow up into Him in all things, which is the head, even Christ. Let’s define the definition of maturity: Grow up!
